I was asked why I'm not posting only stuff about music and about the production process on the blog. The answer is: because I don't feel like it. What I would write about music? That everyone wants to listen to the same things? That is hard to a new "band" to be famous doing something that's not mainstream? That being brazilian makes everything even harder? That no one buys cds anymore? That kids don't support the bands by buying their stuff and on the other hand they buy new expensive iPods? That to be known you have to be so fucking lucky or know someone working for a certain music television or writing about music on a certain newspaper? I won't. I don't care.
I know I'm not going to be rich doing this, I'm old enough to not have that kind of silly dreams anymore. I know the bills won't stop coming and that I HAVE to pay them. The creation process itself is what matters. Yes, of course I want someone to listen to what I do, I know that some people do and care and I'm glad for that. If I work hard I know some new people will be added to the ones I know. But there are millions of things happening besides that. I'm tired of people that just sit and write crap lyrics to fill "space"! I have more than 14 songs done for years and I haven't finished them yet because I haven't written good enough lyrics. I can write, yes, but writing essays is so much better than writing lyrics. Essays give me enough space to write, enough pages. I hate to resume lots of things on a few lines and still find a way to make them fit on the song. I hate to do that because I know I'm killing a good amount of my ideas.
Why not music? Because the creation process is not made only of music. It's made of politics, it's made of culture, it's made of believes, it's made of contradictions, of disagreements, of feelings. It's made of listenings and readings as well. It's made of observation. It's made of critics. It's a whole environment, not only music.
